They met at a pro-life group's summer internship get-together and graduation. Sara was helping bring her best friend Anna Thomson home from a summer of interning away, whilst Mitch was supporting his friends whom he had volunteered alongside that summer. Mitch remembers listening-in to part of a conversation Sara had, "Yeah! We're going to go on our first road trip together..." He then tuned out, defeated by the assumption that a woman of this caliber must surely be referring to her boyfriend. Later that night when asked by Mitch about road tripping with her "boyfriend", Sara clarified that is was her best friend Anna whom she was to be driving with. Then motivated to ask her for her phone #, Sara mistakenly gave him her father's # instead. (Providential? Only the Lord knows..) By God's grace they have been able to grow closer to one another and Jesus Christ through hours of deep and intentional conversation & prayer. He is SO good!
When Mitch's school was cancelled and switched to online due to COVID19, Sara's parents invited Mitch to spend a week or so with them in Sherbrooke, QC. Under the guise of having an updated photo shoot with her parents, Mitch suggested that Saturday that they take a hike to Mount Bellevue. Whilst taking photos in the beautiful forest, Mitch got down on one knee and asked Sara to marry him!
