Jake and Hannah met in history class their senior year of high school. Jake's father had been Hannah's dentist for the past 3 years prior to them dating. Every time Hannah would go in for her biannual checkups, Dr. Kotke would ask if she had met his son since they were at the same school in the same grade. Every time Hannah said no. However, senior year she noticed that she finally had a class with him. She came home after the first day of school to tell her father that the "dentist's son" was in her class. Unbeknownst to Hannah, her father had a dentist appointment that week and told Dr. Kotke about his son having a class with his daughter. That day, Dr. Kotke went home and told Jake what Hannah's father had told him. Jake was intrigued. The very fact that this girl noticed him in class meant that she was probably interested, right? Wrong. Hannah had no intentions of dating her senior year. She knew she would be attending the Master's University in Santa Clarita, California and thought that dating would be a waste of time. Jake, however, did not know this. Instead, the next day he talked to Hannah in class, laughed at her jokes, walked her to the car, and even slid up in her DM's! He messaged her with the line that is forever remembered by the couple, "Hey, just checking up on my father's patient". Hannah was smitten by Jake, but she told him that she wasn't interested in dating. With a shocking response, Jake replied by saying that was completely okay. He said he wanted to get to know Hannah as a friend because she seemed like a great person. After hanging out and getting to know each other over the next few weeks, Jake and Hannah knew they couldn't just be friends. Even though Hannah was set on waiting until college to date again, she trusted the Lord's guidance in their relationship. Jake asked Hannah to be his girlfriend on September 1, 2022. On August 5, 2024 he asked her to be his wife. Hannah and Jake's relationship is a testimony to God's perfect will and plan for all of His people. Throughout their relationship, they have been challenged to submit to God's commands and His ways over their own. By doing so, God has grown their faith in unmeasurable ways. Their goal as a couple from the start has been to "glorify God". While it has not always been easy, God's goodness and faithfulness to them is something that they will cherish forever. It is not by their own strength that this relationship has lasted, but by the grace and love of their Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the name that is glorified forever! "Oh Lord you are my God. I will exalt you and praise your name, for in perfect faithfulness you have done marvelous things, things planned long ago". Isaiah 25:1
