Flight

Fly into London or Manchester

London airports (LHR and LGW) provide the greatest number of flight options. Upon arrival, you'll find various means of transport to central London, from where you can continue your journey to Yorkshire. Manchester airport (MAN) is the closest major international airport to our wedding venue, with direct transport links to York if this works for your route.

Train

To York

From London, take a train from Kings Cross Station to York. Direct trains are available from Manchester Airport to York. Stop to admire the fine example of Victorian architecture that is York station. Use the Trainline for convenient booking of UK rail tickets, linked below.

Travel Note

From York to Malton

Malton is closest town to the venue and the unofficial wedding base, a charming small market town nestled on the edge of the Wolds. Train services and the Coastliner bus service run hourly from York station to Malton. Taxis are available at the station, or you can use Uber. Consider renting a car for maximum movement flexibility.

Car Rentals

We are providing shuttles between Malton and event venues, but it's a bit remote with no subway or reliable bus service. You might want to rent a car to explore. Airport car rentals typically have the best deals. If flying into Manchester, that's convenient. From London, you can find rentals in York—Kayak is useful for comparing prices. Alternatively, driving from London airports takes about 4-5 hours.

Accommodation

Malton will be home for the weekend, with shuttles for events between town and venues. Hotel blocks aren't common here, so book accommodation early. York, about a 40-minute drive, offers city pleasures if desired. We do NOT currently plan to provide shuttles to/from York.

Malton - The Talbot

Lovely hotel that was recently-ish redone, good local food, nice bar, and in the heart of Malton. Considered the 'fancy' hotel in town. In the UK, dates are written in the day-month-year format (e.g., 31/01/2024), unlike the month-day-year format in the United States. Please keep this in mind when booking accommodations at the Talbot. (Distance to venue - 14 mins)

Langton Hall

For the wedding party & friends, we have rented the entirety of this nearby estate from Friday, Sept. 6 to Monday, Sept. 9. It can sleep 56 in a variety of options, from individual cottages, to both wings of the main house. To book, reach out to us directly. Fun fact, this lovely house used to be a prep school, Giff has memories of extremely unpleasant games of rugby in the snow there, it has changed much since then. (Distance to venue - 6 mins)

Beautiful old Tudor house hotel set in large gardens, about a 5 minute walk from the heart of Malton. Rooms less modern than Talbot, but a great place to stay in all. (Distance to venue - 12 mins)

Yorkshire is a beautiful part of the country, so if you want to stay in a yurt by a babbling brook, or some kind of old barn somewhere, we'd respect that.
