Michael and Rachel first connected on Hinge. Rachel was drawn to Michael's Hawaiian shirts, and Michael says he thought Rachel was "neat." They quickly found out they worked together as CNAs at the same hospital and spent the early days in their relationship talking at work. Michael would even walk Rachel to her car after shifts they worked together. Their first date consisted of an ice cream outing and walking around Kenosha while getting to know each other. And yes, Michael did wear a Hawaiian shirt to seal the deal.

Michael proposed to Rachel on Christmas morning. The two had just finished opening gifts together when Michael told Rachel he had one more gift for her. He handed her a small, rectangular box that held a Christmas ornament that said, "Our first Christmas engaged 2022." Rachel was very surprised, but it was an easy yes!
