Flight
We recommend flying into the international airport in either Rome or Naples. Flying from Saint Louis: There are no direct flights to any Italian cities. You can either fly with Lufthansa (layover in Frankfurt) or do a domestic layover and fly with a US carrier (Philly with American, Newark with United, JFK with Delta). Plenty of options but unfortunately you will need a layover. Flying from Orlando: As above but you have way more options in terms of carriers, especially to Rome (thank you Disney!) Flying from New York: 4 direct flights per day to Napoli (2 United, 2 Delta) or a number of options with layovers (Air France through Paris, Lufthansa through Munich or Frankfurt). There is also a great direct flight with American from Philly in case you feel adventurous or you are Mavi. If you are flying to Rome same options (but usually cheaper) with the addition of Norse Atlantic, a low cost carrier which tends to be way cheaper than the alternatives. Flying from Europe or Rest of the World: We appreciate you reading through this but we don't think you need our advice.
Travel Note
From Rome: You will need to get to Napoli first. Take the Leonardo Express or Terravision bus from Fiumicino Airport and get to Roma Termini train station. At this point you can get a train to Napoli (~1 hour ride) through Trenitalia (https://www.trenitalia.com/en.html) or Italo (https://www.italotreno.com/en). From Napoli: Best way is Ferry (45 mins, ~20 euros each way). You can use this website to look at options: https://www.ferryhopper.com/en/blog/ferry-news/italy-ferries-routes-2024. After you find the right option, you can book directly on the company websites (SNAV, NLG, Alilauro) since Ferry Hopper takes a commission. Please remember to get to the ferry terminal ~15 mins before departure, sometimes you will be required to print your ticket. Taxis from Napoli to Sorrento have a fixed price (~125 euros and it is shown in the back of the driver's seat) and can take anywhere between 1 and 2 hours depending on traffic. Please pay attention to not get overcharged and not get sick on the road, we had a fair amount of people experiencing both in the last couple of years.
