FAQs

If you have any questions other than those listed here, feel free to call, text or email Gaberella or Fabien. Make sure you ask all questions BEFORE September 7, 2020. We will be off the map after that! Anyone other than the Bride or Groom will be happy to help you the last week before the wedding.
Question

What are the most important things to remember for travelling to and from Mexico?

Answer

Keep your immigration form! Mexico Customs will provide a form for all visitors to fill out. A customs agent will keep part of the form and stamp a receipt for you to keep. You will need to turn in this receipt to leave the country, so don't lose it!

Question

Do you have rooms reserved?

Answer

No, both hotels are aware of the wedding party and do not currently have reservations for other guests. However, we recommend booking your room as soon as possible. Gamma Rincon has provided a booking code available on the Travel page and Las Palomas has provided a contact for arranging your reservation. Please visit the travel page for specifics.

Question

When should I arrive?

Answer

For the best experience, we recommend arriving in Santiago on Thursday, September 10, 2020 and departing on either Sunday evening or Monday morning. For longer visits, please be aware that most businesses are closed in Santiago on Monday and Tuesday.

Question

Are kids welcome?

Answer

Absolutely! Both hotels are kid friendly and have playgrounds.

Question

What is the best way to rent a car?

Answer

Don't go through a third party service to rent your car. Reservations don't always transfer from online to the Mexico facility. Just rent one when you arrive at the airport, there are plenty of options at good prices. Visit the travel page for more specifics.

Question

Will shuttles be provided between to/from the hotel?

Answer

Yes and yes. For shuttle information to and from the airport, visit the travel page and be sure to fill out specifics on your RSVP form. A shuttle schedule to and from events will be provided to you upon arrival at your hotel.

Question

Who should I contact if I have last minute questions while in Mexico?

Answer

Anyone but the Bride or Groom please!

Question

Are tips customary in Mexico?

Answer

Yes, 10-15% of your bill is customary. For drinks, 10-20 pesos per drink is normal.

Question

What typical food and beverages do we recommend to try while in Santiago?

Answer

To eat: Arrachera (similar to skirt steak), asado de puerco (spiced pork), pan de elote (traditional cornbread) To drink: cafe de olla (coffee, Mexican style), aguas frescas (non-alcoholic fruit and water based drinks), micheladas, mezcal and tequila! To snack: Paletas (popsicles), elote (corn, in a cup or on a stick with toppings), queso panela (white cheese, often served grilled).

Question

Will there be any vegetarian diet options at the reception?

Answer

Yes, please specify any dietary restrictions on your RSVP form.

Question

Do I have to mail back my RSVP or can I RSVP online?

Answer

You can do either, however for logistics we recommend filing out your RSVP online.

Question

When should I RSVP by?

Answer

So that we can finalize all menus, seating charts and other arrangements, please RSVP by August 1, 2020.

Question

What happens if it rains?

Answer

The Callejoneada will continue rain or shine, so bring an umbrella. The venue for both the ceremony and reception have indoor facilities in case of rain, so nothing will stop the party. However, do the sun dance and place two knives crossed in an "X" in the soil in your garden to keep the rain away!
