We first met in summer 2007 in Bogalusa, Louisiana while serving on a Habitat for Humanity trip with Solid Rock Carpenters. Chris came on the trip through an invite from his now best man Kevin, and Abby’s family was running the trip. That first trip we probably said only two words to each other but continued to see each other year after year on similar trips. Fast forward to December 2017 and we were both living in the city and attending Park Community Church. One Sunday after running into each other at a church event, Chris asked Abby to catch up over lunch. We were both pleasantly surprised that the other was not quite the immature college kid and shy high schooler we had remembered. After a few minutes of talking we were both trying to figure out how to see the other again. Chris asked Abby to play volleyball with his company team and Abby said she needed a running buddy for her Comrades training. A couple months of running together made it clear that it was turning into more than just friendship and we started actually dating. Our moms were thrilled to find out the news as they have known each other for years from bible study (BSF) and Abby’s dad had spent years working alongside Chris on Solid Rock trips. After a year plus of dating we saw that this was the real thing. Chris had always liked the idea of a mountaintop proposal and when friends discussed a summer trip to Banff he saw his opportunity. On a snowy July 4th after a tough hike to the top of Big Beehive over Lake Louise Chris popped the question and Abby said yes! We are looking forward to seeing you all as we tie the knot on January 3rd!
