FAQs

Question

What's the venue like?

Answer

Nestled in the canyons of the Sierra Nevada mountains, the Yubaverse awaits you on the banks of the pristine waters of the North Yuba River, just a stone’s throw from the charming small mountain town of Downieville, California. The venue is located just 4 minutes from town. Surrounded by forest, river air, and wide open skies, the setting is relaxed, scenic, and immersed in the natural landscape. We are so blessed to have spring fed water for drinking throughout the event. Expect natural terrain — grass and gravel pathways. The venue is 48 miles from Grass Valley, 75 miles from Reno Airport, and 105 miles from Sacramento airport. The Yubaverse 100 Lure Brg Ln, Downieville, CA 95936 www.yubaverse.com

Question

Do you have a hotel block for guests? Where do you recommend I stay? Is there camping?

Answer

We have reserved room blocks at four different hotels, offering a range of rooms and cabin options. Please visit the "Accommodations" tab for recommended hotels, campsites, and detailed booking information. Camping availability in the area is limited during this season. We’ve included locations that currently still have sites available, and we encourage you to book as soon as possible, as they tend to fill quickly with visitors to the area. If you would like to camp on the property, please contact Nikki directly to confirm availability. To preserve the integrity of the main ceremony grounds, we are limiting the number of tents allowed on-site.

Question

Is there a shuttle service to go to and from venue?

Answer

We are currently exploring shuttle options and hope to provide transportation to and from the venue so guests can travel safely and with ease. Stay tuned — we will update this page as soon as we have more clarity.

Question

What should I wear?

Answer

Upscale casual — think polished, comfortable, and true to your personal style. It will be warm weather, so we encourage light, breathable fabrics to help you stay cool. The venue includes grass and gravel roads, so we recommend practical footwear and outfits you can move in easily. Suits and formal attire aren’t necessary; a nice button-up, dressy top, or elevated casual outfit is perfect. Most importantly, we want you to feel relaxed, comfortable, and able to fully enjoy the day with us.

Question

We are bringing our kids, how kid friendly is the wedding?

Answer

Very! We’re creating an epic Kid Zone designed for all ages, with activities that invite play, creativity, and connection following the ceremony. As the evening shifts into the after-party and dancing portion, the barn will transform into a cozy Movie Zone with a projector and screen featuring a kid-friendly film for all ages. This space will be a gentle landing spot where children can rest, play, or even fall asleep while the adults enjoy the dance floor.

Question

Is this a Saturday & Sunday event?

Answer

Yes — we’re making a full weekend out of it! The wedding ceremony and main celebration will take place on Saturday, followed by a relaxed and playful day together on Sunday — all happening right on the venue property. Sunday’s activities include an optional brunch, a river float + beach hang, a food truck stopping by for lunch, a food truck dinner, and a cozy Talent Show + Open Mic to close out the weekend together. Scroll below for more details about Sunday evening’s Talent Show! We would truly love for you to stay and join us on Sunday. Honestly, it’s one of the parts we’re most excited about — less timelines, more barefoot hangs, river dips, shared meals, and the kind of connection that only happens the day after a big celebration when everyone can finally exhale together. Plus… most places nearby have a two-night minimum anyway, so you might as well lean in and make it a full weekend with us. When you RSVP, please include your headcount for Sunday’s events so we can plan food and logistics with care. Thank you for helping us create a weekend that feels spacious, playful, and deeply connected.

Question

Sunday Talent Show + Open Mic

Answer

We will gather in the barn Sunday evening for a Talent Show + Open Mic — a playful space for sharing a song, poem, story, choreographed dance, improv, stand-up comedy, magic trick, or any creative offering you’d love to bring forward. All ages are welcome, and kids are highly encouraged to join the festivities. This is a highly encouraged, completely optional, slightly mandatory experience for all wedding guests — whether you feel called to share something or prefer to stay cozy in your seat. Sign-ups will be available on the venue site. Last minute sign-ups are absolutely welcome. We’re dreaming up a lighthearted evening filled with laughter, surprises, and those beautifully imperfect moments that somehow become the most memorable parts of the whole weekend. It would truly light us up to witness this co-creative experience take shape together. Come prepared, or not :)

Question

What is the cell service like?

Answer

There may be spots without great reception as you enter, however as you arrive to the main area there is Starlink and you will be able to use your phone. WiFi: The Yubaverse PW: yubaverse Wifi + password will be posted on site as well.

Question

Will there be any vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free or special diet options?

Answer

When you RSVP, please let us know if you have any dietary restrictions, and we’ll do our best to accommodate them.

Question

What happens after the ceremony?

Answer

There will be drinks, appetizers, live music, and an epic kid zone to enjoy! Dinner will be provided and dancing to follow. We would love for everyone to join us Sunday, the day after the wedding, for time on the land with the river and a talent show/open mic Sunday evening. Feel free to reference the "Schedule" tab.

Question

Will the ceremony and reception be indoors or outdoors?

Answer

The ceremony will be held on the grassy meadow area of the property. The reception dinner will be held in the barn in close proximity to the meadow. Dancing will be outside on the meadow.

Question

Is alcohol being served — and when?

Answer

Yes! We kindly ask that guests refrain from drinking alcohol before the ceremony so we can co-create a space of presence, clarity, and meaningful connection as we enter this sacred moment together. Following the ceremony, we’ll open a joyful Sip & Mingle cocktail hour where wine and beer will be provided, along with a delicious mixed drink for you to enjoy. We care deeply about everyone’s wellbeing — please coordinate transportation if you plan to drink. Our intention is for everyone to celebrate fully and arrive home safely. We are working on getting shuttles to provide safe transportation. Stay tuned!

Question

Where should guests park?

Answer

Parking at the venue is limited. We will be prioritizing on-site parking for families with small children/babies and guests 60+. We are in the process of arranging shuttle buses that will pick guests up from local hotels and provide safe return options throughout the evening. Our goal is to make getting to and from the venue easy and supportive for everyone. More details — including shuttle schedules, pickup locations, and additional parking guidance — will be shared soon so you’ll know exactly where to go and what to expect.

Question

Are there places to eat around the venue?

Answer

There are a few restaurants in town with varying hours and days of operation, plus one small grocery mart that carries the basics. If you’d like extra food or specific items for the weekend, we highly recommend shopping before arriving — the closest full grocery stores are in Nevada City and Grass Valley, about 45–60 minutes away. We will be providing appetizers and dinner during the celebration. On Sunday there will be an optional brunch, along with food trucks coming for lunch and dinner. Please RSVP if you would like to join us for any or all Sunday meals so we can plan accordingly.

Question

Is there a place to park an RV?

Answer

Small RVs or sprinter style vans are allowed as long as they are no more than 96’’ (8ft) wide outside tire to outside tire. Nothing wider can fit across our bridge. There are no hookups for RVs on site. If you would like to stay in your trailer or RV, please confirm with Nikki before bringing your rig!

Question

Pet Policy

Answer

We ask that everyone leaves their fury friends at home. There are some hotel rooms and cabins in town that are pet friendly, and the venue is only 4 minutes away if needed.

Question

Smoking on venue property

Answer

Super Important! Our venue is nestled in a beautiful forested canyon, and fire safety is taken very seriously. Smoking is not permitted within 50 feet of any cabin or inside portable restrooms. There is a smoking zone on the lower property where the cabins are located. The upper meadow, where the ceremony and dinner take place has it's own smoking zone. We ask that you be extra mindful to use the provided receptacles — cigarette butts should never be left in planters, on sidewalks, or on the ground (grass, gravel, or anywhere along the river). The venue has strict policies, and improper disposal of smoking materials could result in our entire deposit being forfeited — a wedding expense we would very much love to avoid 🙂.

Question

Bears & Wildlife

Answer

The Yubaverse is located in the wilderness. There are active black bears in the area who are often on the lookout for open car doors and windows or cabin doors. Please keep all food and trash locked in your cabin or secured in one of our trash bins. Keep your car windows rolled up and your car locked. Also keep your cabin locked when you are not inside. Hooks for your key are on the outside of the cabin next to the door.

Question

Where are you registered?

Answer
