It was 1998, she wanted some guidance on high school chemistry, he was back home from college on summer vacation. Although the tutoring didn't last long, Jeewon did make a lasting impact on Jae. He loved her smile, her disarming laughter, and of course... she was gorgeous! On the other hand, although he could be somewhat intense at times, Jeewon liked how she could trick him to listen to K-POP and just have fun instead of studying chemistry. Then life happened. They meet, they say good bye... sometimes they meet again. She went on to have a fantastic piano education and career, studying, learning, and teaching all over the US. He continued his studies and eventually became a doctor, moving to Los Angeles. Technology can be a wonderful thing in this modern age. And when he saw a video of a performance that she had uploaded online, he was stupefied. He reached out to her, and they got on like nothing had happened since those halcyon days of summer. After a couple of months of international, cross-continental, cross-Pacific romance, somehow the couple ended up at the Getty Center on a cold late afternoon day. Since she had never been, he wanted to show her the beautiful gardens. Unfortunately, she didn't think it was necessary since it was so cold. For some odd reason though, he insisted strongly. She ended up loving the garden while he looked somewhat nervous. The stars aligned, the crowd dispersed, the wind abated, and the couple sat under a canopy of the most arresting pair of rose-colored trees. He looked into her eyes, said he wanted to love her forever, and on bent knee, presented her with a ring which shone with an intensity that only those who have lived this moment can attest to. She said yes, and the rest... is history.
