Anniversary Party

Azi Uzuh

Matron of Honor

I work in healthcare doing marketing and strategy. During my free time, I enjoy exploring new places with my husband and son, playing tennis and doing afrobeat dance workouts. I’m blessed to have the privilege of knowing this special couple my whole life! They've always been the example on what a successful marriage looks like and what’s special is that their example came from their actions . I am so excited to celebrate this special day with them!

Ramses Nguatem

Best Man

As the first Child of the couple, I’ve had the opportunity to watch them grow. I’ve seen the sacrifices they made for their family even if it meant spending some time away from each other. I have vivid memories of when they were two young adults trying to make a way for them selves and their family. Not too many people have a soulmate they can count on. True partners, helping each other every step of the way in their journey. As a son, their story is inspirational and will have a lasting effect on generations to come. It’s good to see my parents enjoying theirs lives. They are truly enjoying the fruits of their labor. I love you guys with all my heart! - Ramses

Ernest Nguatem

Best Man

It is a blessing to experience life with my parents. They inspire me to achieve new heights everyday. They have always fostered an environment of faith, actively serving the community, and fellowship.  I watch them create opportunities for themselves and for others everyday.  I currently have the privilege to work with my parents, and I must say it is astonishing and intriguing when I observe their work ethic, devotion, resilience, and dedication to serve the community in the US, in Cameroon, and abroad. I may never know the depths of sacrifice my parents endured to provide my siblings and myself a life of opportunities; I am immensely grateful and I aspire to have the same positive impact on my children as they have had for me and my siblings. Congratulations on your 33 years of commitment to one another and counting. I am truly blessed to be a manifestation of this union. I love you Mom & Dad!

Anyi Tazi (Mafua Fonge)

Bridesmaid

Reflecting on my bond with Mrs. Gertrude Nguatem brings memories flooding in my mind. Fate brought us together early, shaping a deep connection. From childhood adventures to adulthood challenges, our bond remained unbreakable. Our parents often entrusted us with the responsibility of keeping each other in check, a testament to the mutual respect and understanding we shared. Beghangancha's unwavering support during tough times, showed her caring nature. Her journey from a teacher in Cameroon to a nurse practitioner in the US reflects her resilience. Our ventures to vibrant nightclubs to dancing the night away in high heels, my heart swells with gratitude for the sister and confidante that she embodies. In those nights on the dance floor, her presence captivated all eyes. With effortless grace, she navigated the dance floor on her high heels, as if defying gravity itself, executing each step with unparalleled precision. When my sister first introduced me to her husband-to-be, she emphasized his caring nature, his ability to motivate, and his strong family orientation. Over time, he integrated into our family as a beloved brother and friend. His presence brought a sense of warmth and closeness, solidifying his place as an integral part of our lives. On their wedding anniversary, I celebrate Gertrude and her lovely husband for the remarkable persons they are and the profound impact they have had on my life. May their love continue to illuminate our lives for years to come.

Edmund Folefac, MD

Groomsman

Gertrude is not only my sister, but the embodiment of our most cherish grandma whom she is named after. As such, I have known her for as long as I have inhabited this blue dot planet. Through her our family gained a son Vincent who is not only a brother in law to me, but more of an older sibling. If my memory serves me right, I first met him in the late 80s when he was loitering around my sister. From then on the rest is history. I visited them frequently in Sasse whenever I was in Cameroon during holidays. Ultimately I joined them in the USA (Laurel, MD), where they hosted me for more than a year while I prepared for my medical certification exams and interviews for medical residency. Needless to say, I was treated like a prince and provided all the necessary resources to help me succeed. In 2004 when I was accepted into a residency program in Boston, they drove me to my new apartment and ensured I settled down well. I could write an entire book about this wonderful couple whom I am privileged to call sister and brother, but because I was given limited space I will stop here. Ramses, Azi and Tendong have their work cut out for them if they have to meet the high standards set by this wonderful people. I will be remised if I end without just saying thank you for being the best version of human beings. Edmund Folefac, MD Msc, Associate professor of Medicine & bioethics; Co-director of the hematology/oncology fellowship training program. The Ohio state university

Richard Nkwetta

Groomsman

My wife Linda Nkengason and myself, Richard Nkwetta, have known Mr/Mrs Nguatem since 2012. I (Richard Nkwetta) first met Mr Nguatem in Dover Delaware in some really God ordained circumstances. I wouldn't describe it here but after that we became business partners and then brothers. I met his wife after we finalize our business deal and then from there on myself and my wife met them including their kids and the relationship has grown into more of a family relationship. People say it's hard to do business with someone who is not family. I say it's all in the mentality and being open-minded, fair and truthful to each other. Mr Nguatem is a calm, good hearted individual whom we have grown to know and just form a nice business and family relationship. Richard Nkwetta & Linda Nkengason

Florence Mbekem

Bridesmaid

Gertrude and Vincent, let me keep this brief yet heartfelt! Both of you are truly amazing, and Gertrude, I want to express my gratitude for inviting me to be one of your bridesmaids. I first met this incredible couple over 10 years ago in Maryland, and as time passed, I had the pleasure of getting to know Tendong, Ramses, and Azi – they're such wonderful kids. Mom and Dad, you've done a phenomenal job. I hold dear many of the family moments we've shared in the past, and I thank you both immensely for the support you've given me during challenging times. It's an honor to be part of your celebration. Your marriage is a testament to sacrifice, mutual respect, and enduring love, and I hope it continues to flourish. Wish you all the best and God abundant blessings!

Philip Tanjong

Groomsman

I'm Philip Tanjong, the director of the Vaccine Preventable Disease Program at a major Public Health entity in Columbus Ohio. While our compounds are separated by just about a mile apart in Mbindia village, we didn't know each other until secondary school. We both left the village very young. In one of the visits to the village during the 3rd term holidays, we connected through participation in the Mbindia Students Association. Our paths seem to always cross first at the University of Yaounde and then as teachers at the famed Sasse College even though he came there after I had left. Our friendship has only strengthened in the USA where I met his beautiful wife Gertrude for the first time. Congratulations Gertie & Vin!
