The infamous first date video!

Our Story

A buzz from Bumble

As most modern fairy tales start, it all started with a swipe. Nick and I have Bumble to thank for us meeting. In February of 2020, we both swiped right on each other. Now, Bumble required the girl to start the conversation much to my dismay. I was given a few "suggested" prompts, and I chose "what was the last TV show you binged". A few messages back and forth, Nick planned our first date. Bumble actually reached out to Nick with concerns about my profile; the platform informed Nick that I could be a fake profile and that he should take caution corresponding with me. Nick responded to the platform with "Sounds good. I will let you know if she is fake after our date". Nick picked me up for our first date, and as many of you know modern times call for modern gadgets. When Nick rang the doorbell, my parents' doorbell started to record. We all have proof that Nick walked up to the door, walked away and came back to the door. I then opened the door, and gave Nick a hug and sprinted to the car. I have attached the video for your viewing pleasure. On our first date we shared pasta, laughs, and Nick shared his distaste for me when I told him I watched the Kardashians. We then went out on numerous dates after, and were inseparable. One month into dating the pandemic happened. As most, Nick and I spent our time trying to recipes, home workouts, walks, DIY projects, DIY fails, and online school for me. During this time Nick and I were still living at home, and because of this we both developed relationships with our families early on. I was blessed with a close relationship with Nick's mom, Lori. Now, had we not been in a pandemic I am not sure we would have gotten to know each other as much as we did, but I am so thankful for that meaningful time I got with Lori. The pandemic gave us a lot of trials, and tribulations. Post pandemic we moved on with our new lives, still crazy in love. We have travelled to New Orleans, Niagara Falls, Sedona, Flagstaff, Boise, Las Vegas, Kansas City, Los Angeles, and even though he is tough to sit next to on a flight, he still proves to be my favorite travel companion. On December 4th, 2022 Molly had asked me to go Christmas shopping and to go look at Christmas lights. Nick was in Boise (or so I thought), and once we had a delicious lunch, and shopped for a few hours we went to go look at Christmas lights. Once we walked toward the waterfront when I turned the corner there Nick was. He had a sign that said "Marry Me", Lionel was there too. It was the absolute most perfect proposal; Christmas lights, romance, champagne; all I did was sob. I yelled out to Nick "You're supposed to be on a plane right now! I asked if you bought wifi because your texts were delivering!" Have you heard of anything more Maria? He did it in the most perfect way and I will always remember how perfect that day was, and how much I BAWLED. We are so happy to share our special day with you. Thank you for being part of our story, and our story to come. All our love, Maria and Nick
