Braylen and Brittany met in December of 2014. Their good friends, Brad and Nicole Lerud were recently engaged, and visiting Great Falls from Denver for Christmas. On the night of the 19th, Nicole and Brad each extended an invite to Braylen and Brittany for a get together at a friend's house. Brittany received a text from Nicole while at her Dad's company Christmas party; Braylen from Brad while finishing up some paperwork at his office. In true Brittany fashion, she went home to change into something "more comfortable" (A.K.A. yoga pants) before making an appearance. Despite being tired after a long day's work, Braylen also decided to make an appearance. Brittany arrived first, greeting Nicole with a big hug and Braylen shortly thereafter with his usual Pepsi and Crown in tow. Brittany was immediately smitten from the second Braylen walked through the garage door! The night ensued with games, music, a LOT of photo booth fun, and ended with Brittany cooking everyone breakfast. Braylen's soft and tender side won Brittany over when she received a text from Braylen at the end of the night to make sure she made it home safely. As the years have passed, Braylen and Brittany have discussed how wild it is that they did not meet sooner. Both attended CMR High School, and both had mutual friends, but their paths never crossed until that night in December. Looking back, they're thankful for the decision they made that night.
It was the week of Braylen and Brittany's six year anniversary of meeting. Brittany suggested going on a dinner date to celebrate. Braylen agreed, but also threw out the possibility of having to travel to Kalispell for work. It wasn't until the day of the 19th that they decided to travel up to Kalispell. Braylen suggested staying in Whitefish for something different, and booked a stay at the Firebrand Hotel in downtown Whitefish. On the drive, Brittany started discussing dinner options, to which Braylen replied, "I've already got it handled". Braylen isn't much of a planner, so Brittany was surprised by this, but didn't think anything of it. She had been hinting at the idea of getting married for some time, so a proposal on this specific day didn't really cross her mind. After arriving in Whitefish, the two got ready for dinner and enjoyed a cocktail in the Firebrand lounge before heading to their reservation. They enjoyed a fabulous meal at Latitude 48 and walked to Sweet Peaks afterwards to purchase a dog popsicle for Jarvis, their boxer dog, who was back at the hotel. Braylen suggested they go for a quick walk downtown before heading back to the hotel, to which Brittany declined, being that it was snowing and cold. She was completely oblivious to what was about to happen, and finally agreed to a drive to City Beach after picking up Jarvis. They drove to City Beach and got out of the car with Jarvis. The three of them walked around the beach looking at Christmas lights on all of the cabins. Braylen finally muttered, "Okay, are you ready to go?". Brittany responded with, "Yes, I'm freezing!". Before they made their way back to the car, Braylen said, "Well, I have to ask you something first...". Seconds later, he was down on one knee asking Brittany to marry him. She immediately let go of Jarvis' leash, started laughing in shock and said, YES!
