Jon followed Kristal on Instagram & began to like a copious amount of her photos. To be fair, she in turn did the same. A private message thread began & they haven't gone a single day without talking to one another since! Kristal lived in Corpus at the time & Jon lived in Austin. They hatched a plan to meet in person so Kristal made the trip out to Austin to unknowingly meet her future husband. As Jon exited his house to meet Kristal at her car she thought "Oh wow, he's really cute...he wants to hang out with ME??" Jon took Kristal to Trudy's for dinner & the pair quickly bonded over music, dogs & everything in between. They both welcomed each other's best buddies (Diego & BB) with open arms & loved them like their own. The rest (as they say) is history!

Jon had been planning this very important proposal for months & everyone knew about it but Kristal. The perfect engagement ring was burning a hole in his pocket or rather his work backpack. A New Year's celebration was already in the books with their good friends, Alannah & Josh. The weekend had arrived & Jon was still debating on when he should pop the question. Jon wanted to propose to Kristal as the new year rang in with fireworks! However, as the fireworks were starting to appear, everyone (including Kristal) was decorating for the party. One missed opportunity turned into a few as the night progressed. Jon was worried that he had missed his chance but knew that this night was THE night. As the gang made their way to the balcony for a midnight countdown, yawns were a plenty. Jon was still holding out hope that someone-ANYONE-would have at least one firework to set off at midnight. Bundled in blankets due to the chilly fog, they counted down & sealed the new year with a kiss. Jon knew this was his moment, so he said to Kristal "I have one more surprise for you." Jon knelt down on one knee & his entire speech swiftly fell out of his head. As this was happening all Kristal could say was "what are you doing?" He nervously said "will you marry me?" Kristal said "...yes!" Unbeknownst to her, Alannah & Josh were fully aware of what was to come, so they had been recording the entire event. Kristal's only regret is that she removed all of her make up in preparation for bed before the proposal. ***Thank you to Alannah, Josh & Prince for everything that night, we love you all.
