We can thank Liquid Worship for this little union.... We first started having people on the worship team tell each of us how "you two would totally get along", "they're really cool", and "they like the same music we do" back in January 2021...obliviously, both of us thought they were just trying to make worship friend connections. Fast forward to April, and Rachel found herself romantically intrigued when one of our worship friends said to her "...soooo, Phil...? I feel like there's something there..." one Sunday morning. Even though she was pretty sure Phil was just looking for church friends, she decided she was going to start saying hi to him more often. But, alas, Phil being Phil was entering "Musical Season" and disappeared for the next 2 months. Fast forward again to July and the same person who questioned Rachel approached Phil right before heading out on stage and whispered "I don't know what your deal is, but you should totally ask Rachel to hang out". Phil promptly fell slightly off-click in his distraction (Rachel happened to be on stage in front of him that morning), but the bug was officially planted. While now it was Rachel's turn to disappear on two separate two-week long road trips, over the next few weeks we started to more intentionally seek each other out, til finally, we went on our first date (7 hours long may I add!). And the rest was history; we quickly realized that when you know, you know.
The Ring Pop was delicious. ...and the proposal was adorable... After getting tired of waiting for 'THE' ring to come in to make it official, Phil decided he was going to propose sans ring. Enter: the Ring Pop. With some help from more of our worship crew, they set up a surprise proposal before dessert at our MoCo Worship BBQ. Complete with a "ooh ring pop, yum!", a "so is that a yes...?" and a "its an 'of COURSE', obviously." the proposal went off without a hitch (at least without any hitches that Rachel knows about!)
