Gerly and David met in Philadelphia at the African American Museum. Not knowing at the time that they would build a friendship that evolves into love, they took their time to get to know each other and their patience prevailed.
David told Gerly that if they ever got married, he would propose to Gerly at the Eifel Tower. When the opportunity presented itself to travel to Paris, France, David devised a plan to surprise Gerly. After sight-seeing and literally walking for about fifteen miles, David proposed to Gerly on Monday, November 27, 2017.
Gerly is a selfless Woman of God, who cares deeply about family, community, and breaking barriers for women and people of color, to gain access and pathways to success. She has dedicated her life to providing intelligence, insight, and drive in corporate, political, and non-profit sectors with grace and positivity. David is a selfless Man of God, who cares deeply about strengthening children, families, and communities by providing services, opportunities, and support through education, advocacy, and entrepreneurship. He has dedicated his life to helping people grow and be their best selves, build communal bonds, and establish businesses. Together they are a dynamic duo with a combined twenty years of non-profit, fifteen years of business, and ten years of political experience. Yet, most importantly, four years of love that resonates beyond words.
