Sarah and Gerald first met in the fall of 2009, when they found out they would both be UGA Orientation Leaders. Fast forward to the summer of 2010, they spent nearly 20 hours a day alongside 10 other Orientation Leaders entertaining the incoming freshman students, and semi-entertaining the idea of dating. We say semi, because honestly everyone else decided they should date before they did. And Sarah decided they should date before Gerald did. And honestly, Sarah is still a little salty about this. But lo and behold, once the summer ended and the fall semester began, Gerald finally relented and asked Sarah out before she gave up on him completely. Some date nights, a trip to Georgia-Florida, and perhaps a few too many gin and vodkas later, they were a couple. Then Gerald graduated and moved to Los Angeles, while Sarah finished her senior year at UGA. Sarah graduated and moved to New York, and they embarked upon a year-long coast-to-coast relationship, racking up airplane miles, red eye flights, and becoming G-chat pros. Finally, by October 2013, Sarah lured Gerald to New York. They were together again! From new jobs, moving apartments, going back to school, new family members, happy times, hard times, and a cat (shout out to Henry!), Sarah and Gerald have been together through thick and thin... And then one unsuspecting night in December 2017, Gerald lured Sarah to the roof of their building and popped the question. She had no idea. She cried a lot. She was excited. She said yes! So that's that. Nearly eight years later, we can't wait to get married, and we can't wait to celebrate with our friends and family this coming New Year's Eve!
