It was 4th of July, 2017 and Matt was cruising along A1A in Ft. Lauderdale with the boys… on a rental bike, and Geori… was at a Shake Shack…typical. She says her visit there was based on tradition, a regular outing on Independence Day before watching fireworks. But little did she know that she would be trading in her ultimate independence for codependence after the swipe of her Jewish finger. Geori and Matt first met virtually, on JSwipe. Both share a mutual admiration for puns, which they each mentioned on their profile, something that initially attracted them to one another. Somehow, one of Matt’s posted photos on his dating profile of himself at a Star Wars convention with his dad didn’t ruin his chances with a girl who had yet to witness the epic saga. Enter Matt’s “great” idea… a first date at an all-you-can-eat sushi buffet! Now let’s set the record straight here. Matt arrived first and waited inside ready to ask Geori a very important opening question… “How exactly do you say your name?” Hint, it’s pronounced like ‘Dory’ with a ‘J.’ There was an instant attraction. Despite Geori’s past penchant for record-long dates, this time was different! She actually saw potential and enjoyed her company. As did Matt. So much so that they maybe ate 8 combined pieces of sushi the entire night, thanks to all the talking and laughing. Hours later, Matt left the date with a newly earned nickname, "Sushi Buffet", a commitment for a second date, and an empty stomach. Matt wouldn’t have to try too hard to do better than a first date at a sushi buffet. Naturally, he chose bowling so he could show off his rolling bowling ball bag and wicked cool hook shot. Amazingly, Geori put up with his antics, then, and continues to do so years later... and Matt loves her more and more for it every day. So much that Mr. Not-So-Speedy-Seldine finally popped the question! The couple is ecstatic for this new chapter of their lives together, sushi buffets and all.
