Travel Note
Non-EU nationals traveling to Europe for a short stay will start getting their pictures and fingerprints taken at the external borders of 29 European countries, with full implementation by April 10, 2026. This is a system similar to the one used by the United States for its foreign visitors. Please expect potential additional delays if you have a layover in Europe (e.g., Germany, France, Netherlands, etc.)!
Travel Note
** UBER IS AVAILABLE IN GREECE ** You can use your Uber app in Greece to request a taxi ride! It is the same app that you are using here in US.
Travel Note
You can get your ferry tickets from Fairyscanner to travel to the Greek islands! Most of the ferries are leaving from the port of Peiraius.
Travel Note
In general, you can rent a car in Greece (in Athens and in the islands) with just your valid US Driving License and passport. However, some rental companies might recommend an International Driving Permit (IDP). You should contact them by phone and ask them if one is needed. You can use the provided link to apply for an IDP if you want to/it is requested by the rental company.
Travel Note
The following locations are excellent neighborhoods, near the beach and the wedding locations. Subway access is nearby the Glyfada area! 1. Glyfada, Athens, Greece (Example Hotels: Palmyra Beach Hotel, Congo Palace, Sea View Cityscape Hotel, Palace Hotel, Came Luxury Suites) 2. Vouliagmeni, Athens, Greece (Example Hotels: Athenian Riviera Hotel, Aelia Luxury Apartments) Note #1: For hotels in these areas you can also check Booking.com (check the link below). Note #2: There are also plenty of cool AirBnBs in these areas. Note #3: There are also many places to stay in downtown Athens, although it is further away from the wedding locations.
Travel Note
The subway in Athens is really efficient. If you are in Glyfada or Vouliagmeni and want to go to Athens downtown, you can go to Elliniko station, and then get the subway to go to downtown. * Avoid driving in downtown! There is no easy parking and there is heavy traffic all the time... ** Please check the link below for more information.
