The History of Appleford Estate

The Wedding Website of Georgia Simcox and Alexandre Kriebel
Nestled in the heart of Philadelphia's Main Line, Appleford Estate is a historic property with roots dating back more than 300 years. Originally part of a land grant from William Penn, the estate began as a Pennsylvania farmhouse in the late 1600s. In the 1920s, Lewis and Annabel Parsons transformed Appleford into an elegant country retreat, preserving its historic charm while enhancing the property with beautiful furnishings and gardens. Renowned landscape architect Thomas Sears designed the estate's stunning grounds, creating the ponds, winding paths, gardens, and woodland vistas that make Appleford so special today. Spanning 24 acres, the property serves as both an arboretum and bird sanctuary, offering a peaceful escape in every season. Today, Appleford Estate remains one of the Main Line's most treasured landmarks—a place where history, natural beauty, and timeless elegance come together to create unforgettable memories.
