That was the prelude to the rest of our lives. We would forever be the two with matching outfits (unknowingly) and the two who can complete each other’s sentences. I met Long on my 21st birthday. I’d like to believe this was all fate and I had some part in this incredible union I get to witness. Long has accepted me as the Yin & Yang and for that I can’t love him more! As Georgette has truly become my sister, I have been fortunate enough to gain another brother. I can’t think of a more patient, loving person to take care of my sister. Excited for a lifetime of happiness and love for them both!”

He helped me move into my very first apartment, and he helped move me out, too. He has a pure heart of gold and is a supportive and loving friend. He would give anyone the shirt off his back. “Long and I became friends while in jail. No we weren’t arrested, we were working together. After working in the jail, we then went to the police academy together and eventually became district partners on the street. I have physically fought bad guys in the jail and on the street with Long on my side. Yes we kicked their asses if you were wondering. Long is my brother in blue and considered one of my best friends. I’m so happy that Long has found the love of his life, and I know he’s one of the luckiest men in this world to have Georgette by his side. I love you ‘my guy’ and happy for both of you guys! Georgette has been my sista-cousin for as long as I can remember. Despite not growing up in the same city, we were inseparable. I would spend many weeks in Houston full of trips to the Barbie store, Janelle’s cinnamon rolls, being a bad influence and telling her Teta that we were allowed to have ice cream for breakfast (spoiler alert: we were not). She has an uncanny ability to check in at exactly the right moment- I believe we have ESP. She is one of a kind, has the most empathetic heart and despite me being the older cousin, I always look to her for inspiration in that arena. I’m so happy that she found someone like Long who cherishes her the way she deserves. Long- we all love you so much. You’ve been part of the fam for years, but we’re so excited to make it OFFICIAL! YALLAH!

“When I think of my childhood and some of my favorite memories, I think of Georgette. My mom wanted to be sure my siblings and I became close to our Houston cousins so we would make frequent weekend trips to see them. Some of my favorite memories include the Barbie store, Antone’s, cinnamon rolls and cartoons in the morning, trips to the Galleria, Jetty got a crew cut, and ‘oh shit, oh damn, get off your ass and jam.’ Georgette is one of the sweetest, most fun, and loyal people I’ve ever met. “Georgette and I met when she was 4 and I was 5. We didn’t become besties until I declared her my best friend a few years later. In fact, prior to that declaration, I rudely told her that her hands were crumby when she tried to kindly share her cookie with me once. That’s a true testament to the kind of person she is: extremely selfless, thoughtful, generous, and caring. In our Duchesne years, we used to giggle at everything and get in trouble for laughing when we shouldn’t. We used to do crazy makeup, dance to Play and Dream Street, bake raw cookies, and harass our siblings together. These activities continued when we went to UT together and now I am so jealous that Long gets to spend the rest of his life with Georgette doing the same things!
