FAQs

The Wedding Website of George Christos Fotopoulos III and Kara Marie Gadecki
Question

Why Loon?

Answer

We love Loon! This mountain has been host to the earliest of our memories together. We have shared many fond moments here and could not be more thrilled to share this place with all of you! One day we hope to bring our future little ones here to adventure around Loon Mountain just as Kara did when she was young.

Question

How do I get to the Loon Mountain and is there parking?

Answer

Loon Mountain is located off Route 112 approximately 2 miles from downtown Lincoln, NH. Once crossing the bridge onto the property, the Octagon Lodge will be to your left with plenty of parking out front. There will also be shuttle services available from each hotel location that will bring you straight to the base of the lodge where the reception will take place. Connected to the Octagon Lodge will be the 'White Mountain Express Gondola' lift to access the ceremony site.

Question

How do I get to the ceremony site?

Answer

From the base area of Loon Mountain near the Octagon Lodge, there is a four person gondola that provides access up to the summit of Loon Peak where the ceremony will take place. Each wedding guest will be granted their own lift ticket valid for as many rides as desired during the day. The lift attendants will have your ticket ready for you and are available to help you in and out of the cabins. If desired, they are also able to slow or even stop the gondola upon request to allow for a more comfortable entry into the cabin. It will take approximately 15 minutes to ride from the base of the mountain up to the summit. It is advised that guests arrive no later than 3:30pm ET at the base of the gondola since there can be delays and the ride could take longer. From the end of the gondola ride at the summit, there will be attendants to direct you to the ceremony site. There will be roughly a 5-10min walk from the gondola exit to the site location. There will be a mild hill on this walk, so please be mindful of appropriate footwear. For guests with accessibility assistance, the mountain offers a complimentary service that escort guests to the site without the need to make this walk.

Question

Where do I get my lift ticket? Do I need to buy one?

Answer

Guests will NOT need to purchase a lift ticket. Each guest will be provided with a lift ticket as part of the wedding event. The lift attendees and host on site will provide your lift tickets upon arrival to the gondola the day of the ceremony. Once at the base of the White Mountain Express Gondola you can find the on-site Loon host to receive your complimentary ticket. The lift ticket is valid for the day of October 17, 2026 only.

Question

I have made it to the summit, now what do I do?

Answer

We invite you to come early and see what the leaf peeping is all about before walking over to the ceremony amphitheater! There is an accessible boardwalk to explore with various outlooks overlooking the White Mountains. Public restrooms are available at the summit as well. Ceremony site will be located towards your left-hand side of the gondola exit with signage and attendants to help direct.

Question

Is Autumn in New England a busy time of year?

Answer

Yes! This is arguably one of the best and busiest time of year to be in the White Mountains. Leaf peepers from all over love to come and visit in Autumn. For those traveling from out of town, it is advised to book accommodations well in advance. We strongly advise those driving up the day of the ceremony to be mindful of anticipated busy traffic conditions.

Question

Is the event Rain or Shine?

Answer

Yes - there are contingency plans in the event of extreme inclement weather but for mild conditions, the event will still occur as scheduled. The ceremony will be outdoors on the summit of the mountain. The reception will take place indoors with outside patio access. We kindly advise our guests to be mindful of upcoming forecasts closer to the wedding date. Windchill on the summit tends to make it slightly cooler than at the base of the mountain.

Question

I have kids - what do I do with them?

Answer

Little ones are invited for the ceremony & reception! You can also hire a babysitter for a romantic weekend away. Whatever you choose, we're happy to have you :)

Question

What is a Loon?

Answer

A species of aquatic birds! Though they are often included in the broad category of waterfowl due to their aquatic habits, they are actually in their own distinct family, the Gaviidae. They make a unique call: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nG3OYRRpaa4&pp=ygUJbG9vbiBjYWxs
