The dating world underwent a profound shift during the pandemic years. Both of us, in our pursuit of finding that special someone, turned to dating apps, and it was on Hinge that our paths finally crossed. Right from our initial exchange, the conversation unfolded effortlessly. After some banter, we decided to meet for our first date at Gulifty's in Bryn Mawr. Now, for those familiar with Patrick's usual punctuality, it was rare for him to be tardy to an event—except on this day. Despite arriving fashionably late, Patrick made sure to provide fair warning to Nicole. Don't worry, Nicole not only arrived on time but even earlier than planned. Once we navigated through the initial punctuality hiccups, the conversation resumed its natural flow. Our date lasted for three hours, marked by a continuous and engaging exchange without a single dull moment. Needless to say, we departed from that first date with hearts brimming, and in anticipation of a second.
Although the proposal occurred in October, Nicole remained unaware that Patrick had been meticulously planning it since July. On the morning of October 21, 2023, as Patrick and Nicole prepared to meet friends, Emily and Ryan, at Longwood Gardens, the weather posed a threat. However Patrick was determined to ensure the day's trip to Longwood remained intact. On our way to Longwood, Emily and Ryan texted us saying their son was still napping so they would be running a little late. Upon reaching Longwood, our visit started in the observatory to see the Chrysanthemum showcase. Patrick, however, seemed preoccupied with his phone, leading to Nicole's growing annoyance. In frustration, she urged him to "enjoy the day and get off your phone," unaware that Patrick was coordinating with the photographer for the proposal. Following the observatory, Patrick insisted on visiting the fountains, leaving Nicole puzzled but she went along with it. As they stood before the fountains, Nicole sensed something was going on. Without hesitation, Patrick found the perfect spot, dropped to one knee, and uttered the words, "I'm sure you saw this coming." While the details may blur, Patrick assures that a heartfelt "Will you marry me?" was part of the proposal. But Patrick had more surprises in store. Photos were taken around Longwood, and upon returning home, Nicole discovered a decorated house, thanks to Patrick's coordination with her parents (John & Patty), Emily, and Ryan. (This is when the tears started pouring). The night concluded with a splendid dinner at Capital Grille, followed by an Eagles tailgate celebration on Sunday. (Go Birds!)
