It was winter in Rancho Cucamonga, CA. George was driving to a job opportunity he was excited about. While parking his car outside the office building, George met Kari. Kind of. She was working there as a graphic designer and taking photos in the parking lot of the office building. They had a quick exchange. Mainly about how George's car was in the way of her picture. George got the job. Months went by. And while they worked in different departments, they occasionally ran into each other. Always making fun of the other in some way. They tested each other's wit and humor. They loved it. Despite both being kind of jerks, and their different backgrounds and personalities, they eventually became friends. Developing a massive amount of respect for one another. Over time, their connection deepened. From talks about music to motivational speakers. To just plain being weird around each other. As the conversations grew longer, their friendship blossomed into something more. Little did they know their chance encounter at work would lead them here.
Ring check. Excuses check. George had been planning the day. He had gotten the ring, booked a photographer, and decided to propose at Torrey Pines Beach in San Diego. With a cover story of simply meeting George's friend Jaime for a mimosa brunch in San Diego, they hit the road. Their goal was to meet Jaime at a restaurant on time. But they were due to arrive too early. Luckily, George had spent the previous night rehearsing excuses to tell Kari to meet the photographer he had hired on time. He said to Kari…”Hey, let’s kill some time at Torrey Pines until we need to meet Jaime” Kari thought George was acting weird, but was a team player and always up for a little side adventure. She agreed. They arrived at Torrey Pines beach. George had wanted to walk on the sand, Kari wanted to maybe take a hike up the mountain on the side of the beach. It was too bad that George’s leg all of sudden were too sore for hiking. The beach it was. In a special spot where they had once walked and held hands. George dropped to one knee. Asking for Kari’s hand.
