How We Met: Our story began in church. George noticed Javeli right away—she was cute, funny, and busy making videos with her brother. Meanwhile, Javeli couldn't help but notice George and his long hair. During a church trip to a lake, George decided to make the first move. He invited Javeli to join him in a two-seater canoe. He was thinking of a romantic ride; she was just hoping they wouldn't capsize. The First Date: We started out feeling like a dream team, racing against all the other canoes on the lake. Then, the chaos hit. George kept shaking the boat, eventually crash-landing onto a miniature island. To top it all off, the skies opened up and it started pouring rain. It was scary, wet, and completely unforgettable. It turns out, surviving a shipwreck in the rain is great relationship practice. Growing Together in NYC: As born-and-raised New Yorkers, our absolute favorite thing to do is explore the city we love. As we navigated life together, we realized we had found our person. For George, it was seeing how we constantly pushed each other to advance in life. For Javeli, it was the simple realization that she couldn't picture a future without him by her side. The Proposal: 900 Feet in the Air On Christmas Day, George planned a festive night out in the city, taking photos at every stop. While out, they randomly bumped into an old friend of George's who worked at the Top of the Rock. George whispered the secret plan, and his friend hooked them up with exclusive access to the Skylift—900 feet above the city streets. Javeli's sharp intuition was already tingling, and she actually overheard the whispered conversation with the friend, confirming her gut feeling! But standing at the highest point of the building, with the city sparkling below, George stepped up behind her, dropped to one knee, and asked the big question. It was the perfect hometown proposal. What Lies Ahead: Our Next Chapter As we look toward our wedding day, George is most excited for the special family moments as they officially start their own family unit. Javeli is most excited for the simple joy of finally doing everything together. In marriage, we can't wait to keep leveling up as a team. We plan to explore even more of our city, tackle life side-by-side, and find new ways to make a positive impact on the people around us. And most importantly Honoring and Glorifying God togetherness!
