I (Devon) had just turned down a job offer for a job in Houston, TX. Tensions were high as graduation was near, so I set off to find a 'job'. On my way home from class I walked past Larry and Carol's Pizza and saw a help wanted sign in the window. I was hired on the spot by George's cousin, Alex. The next day, I arrived at Larry and Carol's to start my first day. As I walked around the counter to clock in, cue George, "Excuse me, Can I help you?" I proceeded to explain, "No thank you, I work here." As the owner of Larry and Carol's George was quite confused, "Umm...no you don't." After quite possibly the most awkward 10 minutes of my entire life the mystery was solved. Just a few short weeks later we realized that our love for pizza wasn't the only thing we had in common.
It was Christmas Eve and we were spending the day with George's family. We opened presents, played with the kids, and ate a wonderful home cooked meal. After dinner the guys decided to play 'cards'. Keep in mind, for those that do not know, these card games are loud and usually take FOREVER. It was getting late and I was becoming restless because we were driving to New Jersey early the next morning and I still hadn't packed (typical). After cards he took his time in his favorite place, the bathroom. As we drove home he slowed down to look at every Christmas light/decoration. He had a plan but I was unaware and growing more impatient (shocking I know) by the second. We FINALLY get home and I rush into the house to finish packing. As I walked up the stairs I knew something was 'off' because our Christmas tree lights were on. Rounding the corner I saw that there were lit candles and rose petals all over the place. George always knew he wanted to propose around Christmas time to bring even more joy to my favorite time of the year. He got down on one knee in front of tree and I of course said YES! It was the best Christmas ever!
