Downtown Annapolis is full of historic charm, local shops, restaurants, waterfront views, and plenty of spots to wander with coffee or a drink in hand. Main Street, Maryland Avenue, City Dock, and the surrounding side streets are all worth exploring if you have some time before or after the wedding.
Annapolis is one of the sailing capitals of the country, so getting out on the water is one of the best ways to see the city. There are several local companies offering sailing cruises, boat tours, and rentals, including Watermark and other operators around City Dock.
We are admittedly not the biggest seafood people, but Annapolis is very much a seafood town. If you want the full Maryland experience, popular local spots include Carrol’s Creek, O’Leary’s, Boatyard, Sailor Oyster Bar, McGarvey’s, and plenty of other places around town.
The Maryland State House is right in the middle of downtown Annapolis, so it’s easy to stop by if you’re already walking around. It’s the oldest state capitol still in continuous legislative use, and the surrounding streets are some of the prettiest in town.
Quiet Waters Park is a peaceful local park not far from downtown Annapolis, with walking trails, water views, picnic areas, and a great dog park. It’s a nice option if you want something a little calmer and more outdoorsy while you’re in town.
A true local favorite, the Pennsylvania Dutch Farmer’s Market is one of those places where it’s hard to leave empty-handed. It’s especially known for baked goods, soft pretzels, breakfast sandwiches, meats, cheeses, prepared foods, and all kinds of snacks for the road. It’s a great casual stop if you’re arriving early, staying through the weekend, or just want to bring home something very Annapolis-adjacent and very delicious.
