Geoff's tenure in San Diego was always expected to be short-term. When he received his pilot's wings last September, he learned that his selection for his next tour is a 3-year stint in Japan, beginning at the end of August, 2018! (The time in San Diego is a final training period in the MH-60S.)
Time will tell! Right now our focus is on making the most of our time and experience and relationships as we live in San Diego and finish up our respective school years. Once in Japan, we hope to learn about life as a married couple, life in a new culture, and life in a shared home. Within that new context, we can make decisions about Stephanie's career!
We really aren't sure either! We will be living in Atsugi, but we have no idea on specifics of day to day, or even what our house will look like! We know life will be very different, but we are excited nonetheless. We decided to hold off on certain registry ideas due to our uncertainty of Japan, thus feel free to donate to our "home and sushi" fund to help facilitate a more smooth move-in process once we cross the Pacific!
We will be prepared with large suitcases, but are hopeful that the majority of guests will send their gifts to the hidden address that is provided on the registry sites. Therefore, gifts will be shipped directly to Stephanie's address in San Diego and can be included in the shipment of our possessions to Japan in late-August!
