SJO - Juan Santamaria International Airport - San Jose, Costa Rica or LIR - Liberia International

From SJO International Airport there are 2 options for traveling to Santa Teresa once you get your luggage and clear customs: Option 1 Take a hopper plane to Tambor Airport (45 minute flight) via CostaRicaGreenAir.com or FlySansa.com. The destination is Tambor, which is on the East side of the Nicoya Peninsula. From there, it's a 45 minute ride to Santa Teresa. From Tambor, a shuttle will be arranged through the accommodations at Banana Beach Bungalows (where we will be staying and where the wedding will take place) if you book thru them, or we can help arrange a shuttle, or you can rent a car. Option 2 A long, adventurous option. Total time: + or - 8 hours. Speaking and/or reading Spanish will help considerably. Rent a 4x4 in San Jose. Drive to Puntarenas (2+ hrs) and take the vehicle ferry (90+ minutes). You'll need to buy a vehicle ferry ticket to Paquera in advance ($30) and arrive at least 30 minutes prior to ferry departure. Once in Paquera, drive to Santa Teresa (2+ hrs).

Banana Beach Bungalows

Banana Beach Hotel has a total of 7 fully equipped bungalows. Some options can accommodate up to 6 people and some options would be great for just 2 people. There is also Beach Villas on the same property as well as the Peace Loft (peaceloft.com) which is 8 modern loft apartments. Wedding guests will receive 10% discount on all accommodations just mention you are staying there for our wedding. You can email them directly with any questions. They usually respond with in a day or two and are very friendly and helpful! Of course you are welcome to look on airbnb and check out other properties to stay. Santa Teresa isn't a big town so it might be a short drive to get to where we are but nothing longer than a 5-10 minute drive. If you do not plan on renting a vehicle we recommend staying at the bungalows.

Maramar

The last time Geoff and I stayed in Santa Teresa we stayed at Maramar apartments which was beautiful! It is a private gated community with a pool near the entrance. It is not on the coast so it is a little bit of a walk to get to the beach. We do not have any special wedding accommodations set up with them but we enjoyed our time there so much that we had to at least mention it as an option for a place to stay!
