If you're interested in checking out some local culture, I'd highly recommend going to the Soda City open-air Market, located in Columbia! It takes place every Saturday (year-round) from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Carowinds Amusement Park

About an hour and a half from Columbia, Carowinds is a great amusement park on the border of NC and SC.
