Our Story

November 11, 2020

Divorce rate in America is roughly 53% and for arranged marriages approximately 4%. Never ones to worry about the odds, deep in the 2020 pandemic, Aaron and Genna took to Bumble. In October, they matched. Unfortunately, Genna absentmindedly missed sending the first message in the 24 hour window forcing Aaron to purchase an extension or risk missing out on what would become the love of his life. After a few weeks of pleasantries and watching the West Wing— first time for Aaron, 6th for Genna, they went on their first date on November 11, 2020 at Bloomsbury Bistro. From there things progressed quickly from a 2nd date side hug, to a 3rd date kiss. Then, as Georgia Tech, led by Jose Alvarado, was securing their first ACC tournament championship since 1993, they said “I love you.” A potpourri of dinners, concerts, weddings, and weekend trips ensued and 2 years later they moved in together, starting Aaron’s matriculation from 500 to 627 to 903 E Hargett St. In 2025, hoping to capitalize on peaking interest rates, they said goodbye to East Hargett St. and purchased their first home in South Garner— SoGar (the only thing sweeter than sugar). The co-signing of a 30 year mortgage took much of the pressure off Aaron’s planned proposal. However, he was still wracked with nerves when he proposed at their favorite restaurant in front of family on July 11, 2025. Genna couldn’t have been more surprised having somehow missed a ring emoji text during their morning Wordle game and dismissing inklings that it was in fact Aaron’s brother running across the parking lot minutes before the proposal. She said yes, agreeing to the ultimate extension of their love story.
