It was 2007 and I (Genna) had wet-like, scrunched hair, pounds of eyeliner on, wearing so-lows. Kyle was wearing his skinniest jeans, a Glassjaw sweatshirt & his hair was straightened down to his chin. I thought he was so cool. Right there, in the Waldbaums parking lot, I knew he was it. He didn't, (eye roll) but we remained the best of friends for years to come. Our first kiss was during a scavenger hunt in 2009 where we had to kiss a team member for extra points. I can't remember if we won or not. It wasn't until Summer 2013 to really give us a try. He woo'd me with a fancy dinner in Montauk & played guitar while he sang a song he wrote about us on the beach. It was truly a dream. We went our separate ways for a bit - I moved into Manhattan, he eventually transferred to Pace University downtown. We would hang out on our lunch breaks, sneak me into the Pace Library & he would sometimes crash at my apartment so he wouldn't have to commute the next day. End of 2014, he woo'd me again. This time, with a fancy NYC Italian dinner & ice skating in Bryant Park, the only sport I am better at than him... you can only imagine how happy I was. Yet again, we went our separate ways. Mid 2015, he started to study for his CPA & moved into his Midtown studio apartment only 5 blocks away from me (!!!). I'm not sure how he thought that was going to keep us apart.. we could literally walk to each other's place in less than 5 minutes. From then on, we've been inseparable. He moved down to the East Village with 3 awesome roommates & we had a freaking blast. Closing down Dymphna's & Bua. Tompkins bagels every weekend. Watching the pups at the dog park in Tompkins Square Park. It was great. We moved back to LI Sept. 2017 so Kyle can start a career in real estate, making it 4 years since we moved in together. It's been nothing short of amazing. NYE 2020, he took me back to Tompkins Square Park & asked me to marry him with Dos Toros burritos to follow. And I said yes.
