Our Story

How We Met It all began in 2018 at The Rellik Bar. Genevieve was “volunteering” for a campaign for a local judge—lured in by the promise of free drinks—alongside her friends Maura and Karina. Solofo (aka Slu) noticed her right away. In his words, she was very pretty. In her words, he was a total hunk—complete with a smile that lit up the room and muscles to match. Genevieve’s first words to him? “Hello sir, are you registered to vote?” Later, she caught him on his way out, elbowed Maura, who ran over with a flyer: “Sir, you forgot your flyer,” she said, slipping it to him with Genevieve’s phone number written underneath—plus a note that read, “the blonde one.” The First Date & Early Days Their first official date was at States Coffee in Martinez. After chatting over lattes, Slu suggested BBQ. His secret mission? To see how she handled messy food. Genevieve dove right in—no dainty bites, no worrying about presentation—and he loved it. By the end of the day, Slu was smitten. Genevieve was charmed by his sweetness. From there, it was a whirlwind of gym sessions, Pilates classes, nights out for drinks, and spontaneous out-of-town adventures. They’re complete opposites in almost every way—but somehow, they balance each other perfectly. The Proposal On Wednesday, October 3rd, Slu decided to throw his original plan out the window. He’d been carrying the ring for months, waiting for the perfect moment. That day, Genevieve was in a particularly elated mood—so he knew it was time. The ring? A design all his own: a stunning blue-green moissanite surrounded by diamonds. After dinner at Aung Maylika, he suggested a walk (which immediately made Genevieve suspicious). Several failed attempts to sneak to his Jeep later—including a fake “stomach ache” bathroom run—he finally grabbed the ring. Right there, off First Street in front of The Inn Cafe, he asked her to marry him. It was casual, joyful, and perfectly them. Looking Ahead They can’t wait for a lifetime of travel, discovering new things, and building their life together. To everyone joining their celebration—whether in person or in spirit—thank you for being part of their journey.
