Travel Note
We recommend renting a car to get to the villa. Getting a taxi in Perugia typically requires a 30-40 minute wait and then the actual drive is up a windy mountain for about 35 minutes. Taxis from Perugia cost between 50-80 euros. Italians drive on the right side of the road, as we do in the US. Something to be aware of with this option- Italians do drive a bit hectic and getting out of the city will involve narrow streets and traffic. Also, the price of gas is much more expensive in Italy ($6.20-8.00 per gal). Rental car agencies such as Hertz, AVIS, Budget, Europcar and Sixt are available at the airports, within the cities and also at the Perugia train station if you decide to train there. Parking is available at the villa. **Please remember to rent an AUTOMATIC transmission, as most cars in Europe are manual. To drive internationally, you must obtain an international drivers license. You can obtain this at your local AAA and it costs $20 (free if AAA member). https://www.aaa.com/vacation/idpf.html
Train
You can utilize a train to get from Rome or Florence to Casa Bruciata. You can either book your train in advance or you can book your train after you land in Rome or Florence. The train station you need to travel to is PERUGIA. Make sure the destination is just Perugia as there are several stations with names after Perugia, such as Perugia Aeroporto. Once you get to the train station you can take a taxi to the villa or you can rent a car there.
