Dearest friends and family, On May 30, 2026, we had an intimate celebration of our marriage in the lush forests of Northern Washington. It was a deeply meaningful and joy-filled day, spent with our immediate families. Tyson and Geni shared private vows before the celebration. While we kept the gathering intentionally small, we truly missed having so many of the people we love there with us. We can't wait to share a glimpse into the weekend with you. With all our love, Geneva and Tyson Cushman
The Dress: My incredibly talented sister, Liz, spent months sewing this dress. It was created using the wedding dresses of my mom, grandmother, and Liz (/her mom). You can see each layer of my "something borrowed," followed by my "something blue" shoes :). Flower Crown: I wanted to feel like a lil fairy forest princess nymph... My new sister, Maddy, worked on her floral skills and made the most beautiful piece of art that I had the honor of wearing!! The paperwork: Washington state requires an ordained minister and two witnesses to get married. Our lovely sister, Zoé, signed off on our love forever, along with our grandmothers, who we felt we were so lucky to have there with us. The Ring Pillow: From mom and dad's 1992 wedding!! Maybe it means 34+ years of marriage for us, as well :)
Surprise, we met on a dating app! Tyson was the first person I (Geni) ever talked to or met up with after downloading Hinge (or any other dating app). I've heard thats some pretty incredible luck, and I certainly do feel lucky. Being in August of 2022, this was only about a month and half before I moved to Washington, DC postgrad. Against the odds, we never stopped talking. Texts turned to Facetimes, which turned to dates when we visited one another. Tyson came to every family Christmas starting 2 months into our dating, and he flew me to KC to meet his family another couple of months later. 2 dogs, multiple long-distance moves, traveling around the world, and countless other adventures later: it's time to tie to the knot. We are two silly little healthcare workers, trying to make a life off of teensy incomes and big ole' dreams. On any random day of the week, you might find us hiking up a mountain (or snowboarding down), wandering tide pools (or art museums, zoos, botanic gardens, etc.), jumping on a plane or off a cliff (paragliding in Switzerland?), or simply kicking back and watching SNL under plenty of blankets with our sweet Yogi and Shiloh. Life sure is amazing. Without a doubt, Tyson and I will be best friends forever, with each of us agreeing that the other one inspires us and is our better half. We share our joyous optimism that the world is a beautiful place filled with wondrous adventures. It is a joy to have someone to share that with. Thank you for being a part of our story, whether you are family or friends (or both). We so very much love our people and communities that we've built. We know we would not be here where we are if not for you all! Enjoy and we hope to connect with you all soon! Love, Geni + Tyson
