Our Story
Act I
How It Started
In March 2017, Genesis and Jarold were both invited by mutual friends on a weekend getaway to the Poconos in Pennsylvania. Genesis, who turned 25 in March, excitingly agreed. Jarold, broke as a joke, was reluctant to go. That is until he was shown a picture of the birthday girl. This was all he needed to ignore any bills and responsibilities and make the trip. There was chemistry right away, however they were on different paths at the time. They wouldn’t speak again until months later. After many fun dates and late nights, they finally made it official on February 4th 2018. Over the next few years they’d fall in love, learn about each other, pick up new habits from one another, and realize that they both had found their person.
Act II
The Proposal
Jarold always knew he wanted to propose to Genesis during her favorite time of the year: snow season. The 2023 winter was a warm, calm one with a record low snowfall in New York. The plan was set for the weekend of Gen’s birthday during their getaway to the Catskills. As fate would have it, they received over a foot of snow the Friday night they arrived. Jarold told Genesis he wanted to make a TikTok where he compiled different videos of Genesis walking ahead of Jarold. Throughout this weekend she did just that and Jarold would follow behind her as the camera rolled. On March 5th 2023 at Kaaterskill Falls, Genesis walked forward for the TikTok she thought they were filming but this time Jarold didn’t follow. Instead, he gets down on one knee with a ring box in hand. Genesis turns around to ask why he stopped when she realizes what’s going on. The speech Jarold prepared couldn’t come to him as nerves took over but he was able to ask Genesis to marry him. She said YES and their next chapter began.
