In the modern-day age of dating, Gene and Alyssa’s story began with a nonchalant swipe on Bumble. With many exchanged messages between the two in the late hours of the nights, they started to feel a spark with a mutual love of all things food and animals. For their first date, Gene was insistent on picking Alyssa up for dinner. Unbeknownst to him, Alyssa gave Gene a fake address 3 blocks away in case the date went awry. However, once Alyssa got to his car, she was pleasantly surprised when Gene not only opened the passenger side door for her, but also handed her her go to bubble tea order with a huge grin on his face. After dinner, Gene brought Alyssa to one of his favorite ice cream parlors, Oddfellows. Gene’s over the top excitement over ice cream made Alyssa laugh and wonder, "what an odd fellow he was indeed". Unbeknownst to these early love birds, ice cream would play a large part in many of their firsts, including the first time they said “I love you” to each other. Over a bowl of Scrooge McDuck’s billionaire bacon caramel sundae in Disneyworld. Since that fateful first day, Gene and Alyssa’s love story has unfolded beautifully to what it is today. With each meal, laugh, and moment, they’ve created a profound connection that even sometimes they still don’t quite understand. However it happened, Gene and Alyssa are eternally grateful that they were both incredibly bored one late night, and just decided to swipe right!
