I did! My new last name is Gendreau as we got legally married last December!
Yes! Our original date (when we first got engaged) was 12/12/2020. The pandemic obviously interrupted those plans, and we decided to legally get married on 12/4/2020. In order to make 2021 a special year for us, we decided to change our date to 12/4/2021 for our wedding celebration as it means more to us to have the party we missed on our actual first anniversary (got married on Friday December 4, 2020, PARTY on Saturday December 4, 2021)! What a better way to celebrate a crazy first year of marriage than with all our closest family and friends!
We plan to continue to follow MA and CDC guidelines to keep our event as safe as possible. We will have basic precautions in place regardless (hand sanitizers, masks, seating by household/frequently interacted with as best as possible). As it gets closer, we will make more decisions based on the current guidelines for Fall 2021. But, if you have a medical concern, PLEASE reach out to us! We will be happy to make accommodations to make sure you feel safe!
Like so many other couples in 2020, we got robbed of a wedding experience. Although our wedding ceremony last December was beautiful, we weren't able to have everyone we wanted to there to celebrate with us. We want to be able to look back in life and have no regrets about our decision to get legally married as planned, and to do that, we still want to celebrate with our family and friends! Our celebration in 2021 won't be a traditional "wedding", it instead will be a vow renewal and a celebration of our first year of marriage!
