An unconventional wedding...

We just couldn't wait!

With everything going on in the world... Maxwell and Elizabeth decided to pull the trigger and get married earlier than they originally intended! On September 12, 2021 they married in a self-uniting ceremony surrounded by their parents and siblings. Then, on November 5th, 2022, they will celebrate their first year of marriage in the form of this celebration dinner. However, if you would like to also watch the self-uniting ceremony we held on September 12th, 2021, you can watch the recording over in the Gallery tab!

How We Met

Maxwell and Elizabeth met while working at Barnes & Noble together! Liz got hired at B&N in October, 2019, and med Maxwell on her first day of work. She was nervous, of course, and studied her orientation materials in the car before her first day to ensure that she could clock in and start working seamlessly. But she was thwarted, since her directions were outdated and they hadn't mentioned how to get into the time-clock's webpage. Standing at the Customer Service desk feeling anxious and confused, she heard someone say, "Can I help you?" It was Maxwell, and as they say, the rest was History!

The Proposal

Maxwell proposed to Liz on Christmas 2020, after a "Covid courtship," as they like to say. They exchanged gifts late that evening, and while Liz knew a proposal might be coming, she wasn't sure if it would be then. He had put under the tree multiple small boxes that could have been ring-sized... But none of them ended up being "the one." After unwrapping a couple knick-nacks, one of which being a keychain with a cat holding a sushi, Liz decided it must not be happening that night. Then, at the last moment after all the gifts had been opened, Maxwell pulled the ring out from where it had been hidden under the tree skirt, and asked Liz to marry him. After fumbling around and accidentally dropping the ring after he had asked her, Liz said yes!
