How to Travel to Riva del Garda

Dates: May 27 – 29, 2027 Venue: Du Lac et Du Parc Grand Resort, Riva del Garda, Italy Riva del Garda is located on the stunning northern tip of Lake Garda. Below are the best ways to reach us from the three main international airports, including a brief guide to each arrival city.

Flight

Choosing the Right Airport

Choosing Your Airport & City Guide 1. Verona (VRN) – The City of Love Distance to Venue: ~1 hour drive. Verona is the closest airport and a perfect city for a romantic 1 day stop. Romeo & Juliet: Visit Juliet's House to see the famous balcony and the statue that is said to bring luck in love. The Arena: See the Verona Arena, a remarkably preserved Roman amphitheater that still hosts world-class operas today. Views: Take the funicular up to Castel San Pietro for a panoramic view of the city’s red-tiled roofs and the Adige River. 2. Milan Malpensa (MXP) – The Global Hub of Fashion & Design Distance to Venue: ~2.5 to 3 hour drive. Milan is Italy’s most modern city, blending high-end fashion with centuries of history. The Duomo: The Milan Cathedral is a Gothic masterpiece; you can even walk on the rooftop among the spires. Art History: Home to Leonardo da Vinci’s The Last Supper (book months in advance!) and the glamorous Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II shopping arcade. Aperitivo: Head to the Navigli District in the evening for a drink by the historic canals. 3. Venice Marco Polo (VCE) – The Floating City Distance to Venue: ~2.5 hour drive. Venice is a bucketlist destination built entirely on water, made of 118 small islands. The Landmarks: Explore St. Mark’s Square, St. Mark’s Basilica, and the ornate Doge’s Palace. On the Water: Take a classic Gondola ride through the quiet back canals or cross the famous Rialto Bridge. Island Hopping: If you have time, take a water bus to Murano to see world-famous glassblowing.

Travel Note

Transport Option 1: Private Taxi & Transfers

Best for: Groups of 3+, guests with heavy luggage, or those wanting a stress-free experience. Verona Transfer: ~€140 – €180 (1 hour) Milan Transfer: ~€450 – €550 (2.5 - 3 hours) Venice Transfer: ~€400 – €500 (2.5 hours) Booking: We recommend companies like Ogarda or Transfer Riva del Garda.

Train

Transport Option 2: Train + Short Taxi/Bus

Best for: Travelers who want a scenic, cost effective way to see the Italian countryside without the responsibility of driving. Since Riva del Garda is nestled at the foot of the mountains, the train line does not reach the town directly. Instead, you will take a train to the charming city of Rovereto, which serves as the gateway to the northern lake region. The Hub: Rovereto Rovereto is an ancient center of culture and history located just east of Lake Garda. If you have a few hours to spare before heading to Riva, it is well worth a visit. The Sights: Known as the "City of Peace," it is home to the MART (Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art), one of the most important art galleries in Europe. You can also visit the Rovereto Castle, which houses the Italian War History Museum. The Atmosphere: The town is famous for its historic coffee roasters and refined silk-production history, offering a quieter, sophisticated alternative to the bustling airport cities. The Train Journey to Rovereto High-speed trains (Frecciarossa or Italo) are the most comfortable way to travel from the major airports. From Verona (Porta Nuova Station): ~40 to 50 minutes. From Venice (Santa Lucia Station): ~1 hour 50 minutes to 2 hours 15 minutes. From Milan (Centrale Station): ~2 hours 15 minutes to 2 hours 50 minutes. Booking: Tickets can be booked at Trenitalia or Italo. The Final Leg: Rovereto to Riva del Garda Once you step off the train in Rovereto, you have two simple ways to reach the Du Lac Resort: By Taxi (Fastest): Taxis are readily available directly outside the Rovereto station entrance. Time: Approximately 25–30 minutes. Cost: Roughly €55 – €75. By Bus (Most Affordable): The B205 Bus (operated by Trentino Trasporti) departs hourly from the station area. Time: Approximately 40–50 minutes. Cost: Roughly €2 – €3 per person. Arrival: The bus will drop you off at the Riva del Garda bus station or the "Hotel Liberty" stop, which is a very short walk or taxi ride to our venue.

Travel Note

Transport Option 3: Rental Car

Best for: Guests who want maximum flexibility and a scenic drive at their own pace. Requirements for Americans: You must carry your US Driver's License and an International Driving Permit (IDP) is highly recommended and often required. Automatic Cars: Must be requested in advance as manuals are the standard in Italy. Parking: The Du Lac et Du Parc Grand Resort offers on-site parking for guests. The Journey from the Airports The drive to Riva del Garda primarily uses the Autostrada (Italy’s national highway system), which is marked by green signs and the letter "A" (e.g., A4 or A22). Verona Airport: Follow signs for the A22 Autostrada toward "Brennero." Exit at Rovereto Sud/Lago di Garda Nord. Milan/Venice Airports: You will use the A4 Autostrada to connect to the A22 north toward the lake. Recommended rental car companies: Avis, Eurocar, Hertz, Sixt
