Question

When are Gel and Neill arriving?

Answer

We plan to be there Wednesday 6/1/22 to Tuesday 6/7/22, but please come and go whenever you want!

Question

What documentation do I need to enter/leave the Dominican?

Answer

TO ENTER -Passport -E-Ticket. All passengers entering or leaving the Dominican Republic must complete a free electronic entry and exit form, which combines the Traveler’s Health Affidavit, Customs Declaration and International Embarkation/Disembarkation forms. That form is available here: https://eticket.migracion.gob.do/ TO DEPART -Passport -E-Ticket (same as above) -Negative COVID test (see below for more information)

Question

What about COVID-19?

Answer

At this time, you do not need to show vaccination status OR a negative COVID test to *enter* the Dominican. However, do you need a negative COVID test re-enter the US regardless of vaccination status. The hotel offers testing on-site. Upon checking in, the hotel will arrange an appointment time for you 24 hours prior to your departure. Note that you will likely wait in line for testing, even with an appointment time. Updates re. infection rates, current protocols, etc. are available on the Dominican Republic Embassy website: https://do.usembassy.gov/u-s-citizen-services/covid-19-information/ Entry and Re-Entry information is also available here: https://www.godominicanrepublic.com/newsroom/coronavirus/

Question

How far is the hotel from the venue?

Answer

It's next door - literally. They share a fence. It takes less than 2 minutes to cross the sand from one to the other.

Question

Are the ceremony and reception wheelchair accessible? What about the hotel?

Answer

Yes and yes! If you require a wheelchair-accessible room, just let the travel agents know when you book your room. The agent should also include that information in your airport pickup/drop-off reservation. Deplaning is NOT wheelchair accessible (you exit the plane via stairs onto the tarmac), but flight staff will be available to assist.

Question

Will transportation be provided to/from the wedding?

Answer

An air-conditioned coach bus will be available to transport guests from the Riu Palace Punta Cana to the venue. Guests should meet the driver in the lobby of the Riu Palace by 4:15pm. A bus will *not* be providing return transportation. Guests are encouraged to take the short but scenic 90-second walk across the sand back to the hotel, but complimentary cabs will also be available for anyone requiring extra assistance.

Question

Will vegan/vegetarian/gluten free/special diet options be available?

Answer

If you have dietary restrictions and have not notified us already, please let us (Angelica) know ASAP!

Question

Are children invited?

Answer

To allow all wedding guests, including parents, a night of relaxation and uninhibited revelry, the wedding and reception will be adults-only. All other weekend events will be kid-friendly.

Question

Can I bring a date?

Answer

We will only able to accommodate those listed on your invitation to the wedding.

Question

What is "Beach Formal"?

Answer

Brides.com has a great explanation: https://www.brides.com/beach-wedding-attire-4842339

Question

What's the deal with footwear? Can I wear heels?

Answer

Go for it. There will be a wooden walkway to the beach ceremony (though the chairs themselves do sit on the sand). The cocktail hour, dinner, and dancing will be held on solid surfaces.

Question

Are there any other events that I should know about around the wedding?

Answer

We will be hosting a Welcome Party on Friday, and a post-wedding brunch on Sunday morning. Both events will be at the hotel, and both events will be kid- and grandparent/babysitter-friendly. Details TBD. We will also host a Sunset Boat Party on Thursday, June 2. All wedding guests are invited, as well as kids/grandparents/babysitters/travel buddies. See "Schedule" and "Boat Party RSVP" tabs for more info.

Question

I need more information about the Sunset Boat Party.

Answer

This excursion features a 2 hour boat tour including snorkeling on the coral reef, sailing with entertainment and dancers on board, a visit to Bavaro's Natural Pool, and an open bar with cocktails, beer, soft drinks, water, and snacks (including vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options). You may also bring your own food & drinks. Life jackets, snorkeling equipment, etc. will be provided. Transportation is included. A bus will pick up all attendees at the Hotel Riu Palace Punta Cana at 3:30pm. We will return around 7:30pm. There is no cost to attendees, but please RSVP using the "Boat Party RSVP" tab above. If you will be bringing more guests than the form allows, please email Angelica. The company is Infinity Ocean Punta Cana. See their Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/infinityoceanpuntacana) or website (https://www.infinitycatamaranspuntacana.com/copy-of-bienvenidos) for more details.

Question

More hotel/venue/travel logistics, please!

Answer

The hotel is a 25-30 minute drive from the airport (PUJ). The hotel provides a shuttle to and from the airport, so renting a car isn't necessary or advisable (driving in the Dominican is an extreme sport). Alternatively, taxis are available and cash-only. USD is accepted. Uber/Lyft is not prevalent. The hotel is all-inclusive. Cash tipping is not mandatory, but it is very much appreciated. Power adapters aren't needed. The water is filtered, so tap water, ice cubes, and produce are safe to consume at Kukua and the hotel restaurants (though maybe not the hotel rooms).

Question

Open bar?

Answer

Obviously.
