After talking for a few weeks, we had our first date. I had just finished my last final of my Sophomore year at NYU. I was exhausted and just wanted to chill in the dorm for the night. However, my friend Gabby persuaded me to go out and enjoy going on a date. The rest was history! We met at Union Square in NYC. It was drizzling and neither of us brought an umbrella. As it started to rain harder, he gave me his water resistant jacket and let himself get soaked. He took me to some of his favorite places. We started our night not with dinner, but with dessert. Chloe's was our first meal together and has since been our dessert place for every anniversary celebration. We walked the Highline in the rain, the only idiots without umbrellas, without any care in the world. We ended our night getting his favorite food, at Charley's Cheesesteaks. It was not what I expected, as it was located in Penn Station. I was thinking we would actually go to a real restaurant like a normal first date, but then again having dessert first wasn't like most first dates. It definitely stood out as a one-of-a-kind first date and I never looked back.
Due to the pandemic, the San Francisco Marathon was rescheduled from July to September. We had already planned to go to Disney World with my family the week prior, so by the time the marathon rolled around, we were both exhausted. Amazingly, Toliy ended up having a PR for the hilly marathon. We decided to take it easy the rest of the day and to go out and explore on our last day in San Fran. We scootered around to the Palace of Fine Arts - a place I have been wanting to see and it ending up being one of my favorite places ever thanks to Toliy. Surrounded by a bunch of random people, he got down on one knee and proposed - they all cheered! It was truly a beautiful and surreal moment. To be honest, I do not think Toliy would have proposed if he did not ending up with a PR. But, I am happy it worked out the way it was supposed to.
