Tez and I met in Galveston summer of 2016 doing a summer project with our campus ministry, Campus Outreach. I first noticed Tez the first week of Project Galveston after hearing him share his testimony of how he came to know Christ and how his life has changed since following Christ and was taken away with how honest and transparent he was and my initial thought was , what a Chocolate and Godly man lol. During the summer, word got around that Tez was my project crush, but Tez expressed no interest in me at all. Towards the end of the summer, he randomly decided to text me asking to hang out and I was freaking out the whole day because I was so nervous. Since he knew about my background as an athlete, he challenged me to a one-on-one basketball game and if he won he could take me on a date. Long story short, he won (though it was a pretty close game) and we went on our first date in Galveston. After project ended, we continued to get to know each other and he asked me to be his girlfriend Labor day 2016. Two and a half years later and now we're here!!!!
Gbemi and I met at a Project Galveston, a 10 week discipleship program hosted by Campus Outreach for college students to learn to be more effective on the college campus and in the business world. I began to notice Gbemi in week 3 of Project, but knew that she was on Project to grow in her walk with Christ rather than date. Leading up to week 7, a lot of people made it obvious that she liked me, but I ignored them. After giving it much thought and prayer, I knew I wanted to pursue her. Since she had been on my team (project broken into 3 teams for competitions), I had her number. I texted her in week 7 and asked when she would get off work and that I wanted to talk to her afterwards. Knowing that Gbemi was an athlete, I asked Gbemi to play basketball one on one to 10. If I won, I would get a date. If I lost, I would only get to take her out for ice cream. I won, we went out to Shrimp n'Stuff in downtown Galveston, and then walked the strand to get ice cream. Nearly 3 years later and we're still going strong!!!
