Costco and Walmart are the best places pricewise. They are both around an hour's drive from the apartments. Closer to the apartments are a couple of smaller grocery stores but they tend to be pricier.
Bear in mind that alcohol sales close at 11pm on the island. There is a Safeway close to the airport where you can buy supplies for that night until such time as you can get to Costco or Walmart the next day.
By far the easiest way to get around Maui is to rent a car. For shorter journeys, there are plenty of Ubers and Lyfts but the airport is around an hour from the apartment. There are lots of car rentals at the airport but be sure to book ahead to get the best rate.
