TINDER WORKS!!! A week prior, our swipe rights matched. Neither of us were too much into sharing our life stories through "LOLs" and endless emojis prior to meeting. After a phone call or two, the date was up. Steve proposed the Braves/Phillies afternoon game. Gayla, braced up having had knee surgery four weeks prior, hobbled over to the third base gate in her niece's Utley jersey. She was greeted by Steve's cheshire cat grin. Neither one knows too much about how time passed after that. Apparently the Phillies got trounced, but we had no idea. Nine hours later, we hadn't stopped talking and laughing, even when Steve thought Gayla ditched him during a fake toilet visit, and we haven't stopped talking or laughing since!
Most of our near family were over for two of our nephew's birthdays (one of the many dates we have in common). The sun - out, the grill - going, the house - full of food, the paddling pool - full of toddlers vying for King/Queen of the water. As the night was drawing to a close, all the kids were coming up from the basement, and, as Steve grabbed Gayla's hand from the couch, she was sure she was about to find out what had just been spilled on the new basement carpet. Instead he kneeled and said, "Gayla, I just want you to know, here, in front of almost all of the most important people in our lives, You are THE MOST important person in mine. And I never want to spend another day without you. Will you marry me?" And She Said Yes!
