We love telling the story of how we met - like many millennials, on a dating app - but not because of how it finally happened. It’s a fun story thanks to all the times it almost happened over a decade! We lived in Edmond, Oklahoma and attended The University of Central Oklahoma at the same time, pursuing different majors. There was one time I lamented to friends that I couldn’t go to a UCO-sponsored Quidditch club due to an evening class scheduled at the same time. Alex now regales me with stories of running around campus astride a broomstick - We could have met in 2013! We both worked at Texas Roadhouse in Oklahoma City, except I left three weeks before Alex transferred to that location. We could have met in 2016! Speaking of 2016, I’m not convinced we didn’t cross paths in downtown Edmond catching Pokémon - it’s something we still enjoy doing together. Fast forward a few more years and one catastrophic ice storm, and our paths finally crossed. Thanks to the prevailing pandemic that year, we spent hours upon hours getting to know each other before setting up our first date. I’ll fondly remember November 15, 2020 as the day a squirrel ate peanuts directly from my hand, as well as a few other adventures that I consider The Marathon First Date but Alex insists was the first three dates rolled into one. Sorry honey, I’m not budging on this one. Alex asked me to be his girlfriend on November 27th, and we became inseparable - when we weren’t busy working or taking classes. Spring semester ‘21 is a blur in my mind but by the end, we had both graduated and suddenly had more time than ever to spend together! By summer, Alex had accepted his first job post-graduation as a Spanish teacher at Kellyville High School in the town where he grew up. This meant our time together was reduced to weekend visits, and Alex became intimately acquainted with Brittany’s ten acre farm in Luther, Oklahoma. Fortunately for us, Brittany’s longtime job had recently allowed remote work to accommodate for Covid restrictions, and by January 2022 we had moved into an apartment in Glenpool, Oklahoma. In March, Alex took us back to the park from our first date. While the squirrels weren’t as cooperative as they had been in the past, we left with a sparkly promise for the future - and now we’re looking forward to celebrating our two year anniversary at our wedding on November 27, 2022 and we hope you can join us!
