Tom bought the engagement ring not long after he and Hannah started dating, but knew he would have to wait. He still had to talk to her dad and then find the perfect moment. Hannah was also difficult and had lots of rules on how not to ask, such as: in a restaurant, on a holiday, at a game, around family, in public, etc, etc, etc. Then one night as they were leaving their apartment to head to the grocery store for some coffee, they walked outside and it was snowing to their surprise. Tom ran upstairs to "grab his wallet" and then came back downstairs to the car and asked Hannah to get out into the cold and stand under the building's light for a great photographer moment. When she got out under the light and turned around, Tom was down on one knee. Hannah almost thought it was a joke as she'd thought it was going to happen multiple times and was wrong. But then Tom brought out the ring and she stopped in her tracks. They still went to the grocery store to buy coffee and champagne afterwards.
