Gavin and Vanessa's love story dates back to eighth grade in 2012, but some could argue, even earlier than that. They officially met in band class, where Gavin played the saxophone and Vanessa played the flute. He was the class clown and she was the quiet girl who rolled her eyes at all of his bad jokes. He would always tell his friends that he had an eye for her, but of course, was too shy to approach her. One day after school, he mustered up the courage and asked her to be his girlfriend in front of all their friends. The rest is history... Gavin and Vanessa promoted Jr. High together, went through High School by each others sides, attending every dance (winning Homecoming prince and princess of course) and having one last dance at prom. They cheered one another on at Gavin's swim meets and water polo games, and Vanessa's soccer games and track/cross country meets. They went through every big moment together: drivers licenses, first jobs, 18th birthdays, and High School graduation. Everyone knew them as the "it" couple. Fast forward a few years - College came and went. Gavin graduated from the sheriffs academy and Vanessa was in grad school to become a therapist. Eventually Gavin landed his dream job as a police officer in a beach city, which led them both to moving in together, away from their families for the first time. In their new home, they brought along Vanessa's dog and adopted a new cat, which has brought them both so much joy. They have added new traditions, such as weekly pizza parties and dancing/singing together in the kitchen to their favorite music. Gavin proposed to Vanessa on June 22nd, 2025, which is also her grandfather's birthday. He chose to drop down on one knee in a gorgeous mansion ballroom, a special place to her as it's one of the locations that Princess Diaries, Vanessa's favorite movie of all time, was filmed. Gavin then surprised her with both of their families, even Vanessa's sister who flew into town for the special occasion. It was the most perfect day.
