FAQs

Here are some frequently asked questions you may find helpful when preparing to travel to Mexico for our wedding!
Question

What to bring when I go to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico?

Answer

A few main things you will want to bring with you: 1. US Passport - this will be required to enter back into the USA when returning so this is extremely important to bring or obtain before you come! 2. Attire - You will want to bring formal dress/suit attire for our wedding ceremony/reception and you will also want to bring summer clothes, bathing suits, sandals & walking shoes, etc. the weather will most likely be 75-85 degrees and we will be hanging out in the pools and on the beach! 3. Pesos - We recommend you exchange US dollars to pesos BEFORE arriving to the airport or Mexico because usually the exchange fee will be cheaper as opposed to exchanging your money in the airport or hotels. The resort we will be staying at is all inclusive, so you will not have to pay for food & drinks at the hotel, however, you may want to go outside of the resort and a lot of vendors & restaurants in PV are cash only so we recommend you bring some Pesos!

Question

Health & Safety

Answer

*AVOID DRINKING ANY TAP WATER* When you arrive at the resort, we highly recommend you buy a large pack of bottled drinking water for your room. The resort should sell bottled water or you can walk to a nearby store to get some. The tap water in Mexico can be contaminated and can potentially get you sick. TIP: Use bottled water when brushing your teeth (showering and bathing is fine, just avoid consuming any of the water)

Question

Is Puerto Vallarta safe?

Answer

- Puerto Vallarta is generally considered a safe destination for tourists, especially when compared to other areas in Mexico with higher crime rates. It consistently ranks as one of Mexico's safest cities for tourists, families, and even solo travelers. However, like any popular tourist destination, it's crucial to be aware of the potential risks and take precautions: - Petty Crime: Non-violent crimes like pickpocketing and scams can occur, particularly in crowded areas. It's recommended to remain vigilant and take basic precautions like securing your belongings and being aware of your surroundings. - Safety at Night: While tourist-heavy areas like Centro, Zona Romántica, and Marina Vallarta are well-lit and active at night, it's advisable to stick to busy streets and avoid poorly lit or deserted areas. - Transportation: Use official taxis or reputable ride-sharing services, especially at night. Avoid hailing unmarked taxis on the street. Uber works great there!
