How we met

First comes school, then comes marriage

We met at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. We were both students at UNCG and we had mutual friends. One thing led to another and we were going on our first date. The entire night felt like I was out with a longtime friend that I've known for years. Gavin was such a gentleman with a sense of humor and had my side hurting with laughter the entire night. We sat up all night talking about our dreams, goals and aspirations and our Love for God. Some things never change because he is the exact person I met that night, only better! We have experienced many highs and lows together. I've seen him offer his last and often go without just to make sure I have what I need. He is literally everything I prayed for. I Thank God every day I chose to further my education at UNCG and met my Dooda. Life is going to be so sweet with him by my side! Here's to forever! -Doodie <3

The Proposal

I get butterflies every time I tell this story. It was Saturday, February 18, 2017 otherwise known as my 24th birthday! I woke up that morning with the expectation that I was going on a shopping spree in Charlotte, NC then make plans with my friends and family that night. Shortly after, he convinced me that I wasn't doing anything the night of my birthday because he couldn't get everyone together. The entire time I'm thinking, "The nerve of my family and friends to neglect me on my birthday!" We arrive back home from Charlotte and, i'm not going to lie, I had an A-tti-tude lol. Gavin took a nap, yall! A nap! I was steaming mad by then lol. I started texting everybody trying to make plans and everybody was "busy". Eventually, Gavin woke up and said "I just remembered there's a restaurant on the other side of town that I think you would like. Get dressed and we can go eat there for your birthday." He blindfolded me so the "new restaurant" would be a "surprise". We drove in so many circles, I thought we were out of the City! Finally, we stopped and he came around to my side of the car to help me out. I walked inside of some building and was guided to my seat. When I took off the blindfold, I was in my FAVORITE restaurant (P.F.Changs) with everyone of my friends that I tried making plans with as well as all of my aunts, uncles, mom, sister, cousins anddddd My father and stepmom from Memphis! They flew all the way into town for my birthday! I was so shocked and happy I didn't know what to say. He had really pulled one over on me. After sitting there for a while he asked me to stand up so I could try on my birthday gift. So i'm thinking it just HAD to be a pair of shoes i've been asking for. I stood up so excited only to see Gavin get down on one knee. I LOST IT. I cried like a freshly spanked newborn baby. The entire day was amazing and I was so touched by how much effort he put into pulling everyone together. I will never forget my proposal. Best Day Ever!
