Gavin and Victoria had their first date in August 2020 at Home 231, a charming restaurant in downtown Harrisburg. Gavin first caught Victoria's eye in his dating profile when he described his perfect Sunday: church then reading the newspaper at Barnes and Noble - what could be better! When Victoria arrived at the restaurant to meet him ("a few" minutes late of course), Gavin was chatting with a stranger at a little table outside. She'd soon learn Gavin is just as friendly everywhere he goes to everyone he meets! They quickly connected over all the things they had in common - a shared faith, a love of reading, a dislike of scary movies, the joy of exploring the world together, and a passion for figuring out how to make the world a better place. Victoria was so impressed at Gavin's positivity, communication, and intentionality in all things. Gavin was impressed in Victoria's desire to make life poetic, her humor, and her independent perspective. After many more dates and perfect Sundays together at Barnes and Noble, Gavin invited Victoria to a (pretend) Christmas open house at the Pennsylvania Capitol in December 2023. When they arrived, it quickly became clear the place was empty. Gavin showed her around the Governor's office anyway, then they went out onto the Governor's private balcony where Gavin proposed! Victoria asked the question back, and it was a resounding "YES" from both of them. They then returned to Home 231, the location of their first date, where they sat at the exact same table they had nearly three and a half years earlier - two strangers then, now soon-to-be husband and wife. From both of us: We are so appreciative of the love and care our close friends and family have shown to us over the years in making us the people we are today. We can't wait to celebrate with you all and share in this joyous moment with us as we fully join our lives together!
